A Very Sexy HOT read!

First off I do not normally like futuristic books but I was asked to try something out of my comfort zone. This book was awesome!

This takes place in Earth 2070. Humans and Aliens do not get along. Betsy was charged with a crime that she didn't commit but her father let her be sold as a slave on a totally different planet!

Betsy is a very fiesty and used to the ways on Earth. Being sold into slavery and to have to call someone Master and do as told without talking back or taking any kind of action that would be considered bad coming from a slave. So she has a little bit of a problem learning her place.
Her Master is Edek. She was bought as a present by his older brother. Edek HATES humans and is not pleased with the gift. He is a KALL Commander and takes that very seriously. He needs his slave to obey him to the letter or actions will be taken.

The relationship between Edek and Betsy had me laughing from the beginning. Both trying to get to know each other but not in the normal way at first. But Edek and Betsy both learn just because you are from different planets doesn't mean things can't change and turn for the better. The sex scenes are so hot. A little spanking all in the right places makes for some very HOT SEX!!

This author is very talented and has my attention with her books! Her characters are lovable and have such a way with each other that makes me feel like I know them. I can't wait to read more from this author.

This was my first Sue Lyndon, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I loved it. It's book 2, but I didn't feel lost. I was sucked into the sample and had to buy. I wasn't disappointed in the least. Great world building. I adore a well done Master/slave sci-fi, and this being a spanking romance just made it even better. Loved the spanking scenes in this book. Edek is caring but firm and loves Betsy's feisty pluck, even though he spanks her for it. I really appreciated her resilience in the face of adversity.
I didn't get an age-play vibe from this story, at all, but that could be because I'm really into the whole big brute alien/little human thing. That was fantastic.

Really happy I found this book. It will definitely be a reread for me.

Sue Lyndon's best sci-fi romance!

In Surrender, Alien Warriors Book 1, Betsy Carson, the daughter of POTUS, was supposed to marry a Kall warrior, a member of an alien race who conquered Earth. But when she ran off, another woman had to step in and fulfill her duty. Now in Commander’s Slave, Alien Warriors 2, Betsy has to pay the piper. Angry because she weaseled, a Kall court convicts her on trumped up charges, she is transported to the Kall planet, and she is auctioned off as a slave.
I think Commander’s Slave is Sue Lyndon’s best sci-fi romance so far. The attention to world-building and setting enriched the story. The likable characters engaged me, the pacing moved quickly, the author used active voice in her writing (yay!), and the action scenes were dramatic. I also found the caring that Edek (the hero) had for Betsy to be touching.
On a side note, Commander’s Slave has the tone of an age play story. Although Betsy is 26, her adoration for Edek felt childlike and his coddling behavior toward her seemed “Daddy-like.” Not a complaint, just an observation.
All in all, an engaging, fast-paced read.

Good for content review, not so good for NCLEX study.

Not a bad resource for pharmacology class, but not a good resource for NCLEX study. There seems to be some inconsistency with the principles in the rationales throughout the book. For example, for NCLEX, you're not supposed to add anything to the question stem that isn't there, and you're not supposed to read into an answer to the extent that you need to start making up a story for why the answer choice could make sense. Yet there are questions in the book where selecting the "right answer" would require you to infer something that is NOT in the question stem, or make up a story for the answer to work.

E.g. There is a question about an obese person with tachycardia, restlessness, etc., shows up in the ER, and the right answer is that the nurse asks the client how long he's been taking appetite suppressants. Well, you could ask the client IF he is taking them, but there's no clear indication anywhere in the stem that he is; more to the point there are other answers that make sense, so why would you necessarily infer that the patient's problem is abuse of appetite suppressants when you haven't ruled out other possibilities that are just as likely (e.g. use of amphetamines)... The answer fits, but you have to add information to the stem that isn't there, and you could just as easily add information for other answer choices that makes sense... In short, the question strays from the very principles of problem solving that the NCLEX is designed to test, such as don't add things to the stem that aren't there, and don't make up a story for why an answer could work.

On the other hand, the content review of this book is very helpful. My complaint is that the questions that undermine NCLEX taking principles might just add more confusion and frustration to somebody who is trying to master those principles (and pass the NCLEX).

Needs updating

This information in this book will help some, but not all of it. The publish date is 2014 and some of the information is outdated which leads to wrong answer and false positives. If you are using this to help study for an exam then make your first choice for study materials to be your text book. Don't use this exclusively as some of the answer and rationale may be wrong now.

About the Author
Deborah Cooke has always been fascinated with dragons, although she has never understood why they have to be the bad guys. She has an honors degree in history, with a focus on medieval studies.She is an avid reader of medieval vernacular literature, fairy tales and fantasy novels, and has written over forty romance novels under the names Claire Cross and Claire Delacroix.

Deborah makes her home in Canada with her husband. When she isn't writing, she can be found knitting, sewing or hunting for vintage patterns.

Just weeks away from her sixteenth birthday, dragon shifter Zoe Sorensson can't catch a break. Zoe's best friend knows she's keeping something from her and it's causing a rift in a once strong friendship, her parents are having marital problems and the cute rocker who makes Zoe's heart race won't return her messages. But she has little time to dwell on this. The Mages' have devised a new plan and set their sights on Zoe. Zoe and her fellow Pyr will need to quickly come up with a way to stop them from not only destroying dragons, but all shifters.

It's been months since Zoe first shifted into her dragon form and uncovered a plot by the Mages to eliminate all species of shifters. Her birthday is coming up and things have only gotten more complicated. She isn't allowed to tell her best friend Meagan what she is because of rules set by her father that all Pyr must follow or face the possibility of exile. This is putting some major tension on their friendship that has only gotten more rocky since the arrival of the new girl Jessica. Relationship wise, Zoe wants desperately for there to be something between her and the older boy Jared she met while at Pyr boot camp but he seems set on keeping his distance. All the while Derek, one of her classmates, has started to show more and more interest in Zoe. I honestly didn't really care about any of this. All of the scenes were well written, it's just I'm not a fan of teen drama and high school politics. What kept me interested were the events involving the Mages and shifters.

I love Deborah Cooke's dragons. They're beautiful, strong and love and protect with a passion that always makes for a great read. In this series, she has opened up her world to include a few other species, all of which are in danger from the Mages. With the complete annihilation of a species, the Mages become more powerful and come closer to bringing back the stronger of their kind. Having signed an agreement with them, the older Pyr don't believe that they're up to anything so it falls onto the younger generation to discover what the Mages are up to and find a way to stop them before they do irreversible damage. The Pyr boys are just as likable as their fathers but Zoe stands out among the pack. Well, whenever she's not dealing with boy or best friend drama. Zoe is the Wyvern, only female who has powers beyond the others of her kind. Problem is she hasn't come into most of her powers and has no how to guide but I thought she really manged to hold her own against the stronger Mages. Zoe's intelligent, brave and loves nothing more than being a dragon and she uses this to outsmart her enemies and become a better Wyvern. She's quite impressive and you know she's only going to get better.

Though I wasn't a fan of the high school drama, I still found a lot to like in Winging It. The Mages have wicked things in store and it's up the Zoe, her Pyr friends and new allies to stop them before it's too late. Zoe really steps up to the plate and takes on a responsibility that would make an older person hide in fear. No matter the reader's age, Zoe's worthy of admiration and I can't wait to see what adventure she takes us on next.

If you are new to the series you should definitely pick up book 1 as there is some great character development to help you get to know all the characters but Deborah does a really good job of recapping in the first chapter of WINGING IT so you wont be to lost if you decide to jump right it. The recap was helpful to catch me back up on the series.

The book moves along at a nice speed and never leaves you feeling like something needs to happen. I enjoyed the action and conflict in FLYING BLIND but WINGING IT brought a more grown up Zoe with to go along with the action, conflict and fun supporting cast characters to liven up every situation.

Megan, Zoe's Best friend plays a much bigger role in book 2. We get to know her better and watch as Zoe tries to hide the truth that she so desperately wants to let out. We meet a new guy and I really liked him. We got to know Jared in FLYING BLIND I have so many questions about him and still so little answers. He is never there for Zoe when she needs him in WINGING IT and Derek was able to squeeze right into the spot that he should have been in. I still feel like Jared has a huge chance but unless he jumps in to the mix in a big way I think he will be done for in Zoe's world. I enjoyed watching the young dragons continue as a team to get past the major conflict in book 2. I'm hoping book 3 brings them all back together again.

The Dragon Diaries was planned as a trilogy with the final book BLAZING THE TRAIL set to release in June of 2012 and I hope I am able to snag it as soon as its off the press so I don't have to wait that long. Great series for any Paranormal YA lover.

Didn't read the description - Young Adult Book

I did not look past the author's name on this book. Until I downloaded it to my kindle and started to read I did not realize it was for young people. My bad. Because I bought it; I read it. It answered some questions from the Adult series that were interesting.

I could have done without the first person, teenage angst, and high school drama. But I can see where it would be appealing to a younger reader.

I found it interesting how the author addresses both audiences across the series. Well done. My 3 star rating is simply because I do not know how the targeted audience would respond to the story. If I had a younger daughter or granddaughter I would be comfortable with her reading this novel. Nothing suggestive or offensive in it. The plot moved quickly.
